Mastery of a target market comes with an understanding of the industries involved. Jozette “Joz” Walker was born and raised on the island of St. Croix, United States Virgin Islands. She hails from a multi-ethnic and cultural background with 200+ years of Crucian heritage with ancestral ties to Scotland, Antigua, Barbados, Puerto Rico, and the Dominican Republic.
Jozette’s educational credentials include an Associates of Arts in Public Relations & Communications from Broward College. With coursework that includes: Principles of Accounting, Principles of Marketing, Intro to Business, Public Speaking, Professional/Technical Writing, Mass Communications, Supervision & Management, Business Ethics, Business Law I & II. She also earned the specialized distinctions of International Event & Wedding Professional (IEWP™), Certified Federal Acquisition Contracting Officer Representative, Certified Travel Agent, and Certified Home Retention Consultant. Other professional credentials include business certificates in Lean Six Sigma for Government, Project Management Fundamentals, Mastery of Business Fundamentals, and Computer Applications & Office Management amongst others. She eagerly awaits Fall 2017 where she will pursue a Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Administration via Florida International University with an ultimate career goal of becoming a Business/Intellectual Property Lawyer.
Jozette’s professional strengths are multifaceted. She has garnered more than 15 years of experience in business/office operations, project management, communications, marketing, and event management. For the past three years, she has served as the Executive Administrative Assistant to former Director Karl Knight and current Director Elmo D. Roebuck, Jr. at the Virgin Islands Energy Office – Office of the Governor. She is also currently serving in the role of Acting Deputy Director at the agency.
Her social/community networking includes membership with the St. Croix Young Professionals’ Network, where she also served as the Public Relations and Community Outreach chair. Jozette is presently the Event Chair of Crucian Fusion committee and a member of the Board of Directors at Crucian Heritage and Nature Tourism (CHANT) a non-profit that promotes the history, culture, and ecotourism of St. Croix. Additionally, she has served as an elected member of the Democratic Territorial Committee of the Virgin Islands. A true servant of the community Jozette has assisted and volunteered her expertise to the following organizations in the Virgin Islands to include: A Taste of St. Croix, the St. Croix Foundation, and the Caribbean Education Initiative.
A visionary and entrepreneur on the rise, Jozette spends her free time masterminding a number of business projects. An avid writer, you are bound to find her freelancing with a portfolio that includes countless resumes, business plans, proposals, graphic design, web development, and event planning/design projects. Literally, anything her hands touch turns to gold this includes her culinary and hairstyling skills. She also has a knack for channeling her inspirations and opinions on social media with popular topics such as culture, entertainment, business, travel, current events, and quotes. This mogul in the making is motivated and driven by success and carries with her the pride of the Virgin Islands and an optimistic and driven approach to life.
